Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle

Transport

Travelling to and from school is a busy time of day!

The school day starts at 8.50 am, which is when students report to their form rooms, and finishes at 3.45 pm – please note that the school site is very busy during these times so please take extra care.

Upon arrival to site, please stay safe by using the footpaths and the pedestrian crossing – do not walk across the vehicle access areas or gates and make sure you stay visible to approaching traffic.

Travelling by Bus

Buses arrive to school between 8.15am and 8.50am and are onsite before 3.45pm ready for the journey home.

There are a number of private bus services organised by our trust encompassing Boston, Spilsby, Lincoln, Washingborough, Potterhanworth and Market Rasen. The timetables for these services can be viewed below.

Private Bus Service Timetables

To request a place on a private bus, please fill out the Seat Request Form.

Some students may be entitled to free school transport due to the distance of their home from the school – contact the Schools Transport Services Team at Lincolnshire County Council to see if you are eligible. Otherwise, public transport services are also available via Traveline.

All students utilising the school transport should abide by the Passenger Code Of Conduct to ensure all passengers have a safe journey and that the school transport is kept in a clean and tidy condition.

Travelling by Car

The school site becomes very busy at the start and end of each day. Please avoid entering the grounds and find a safe drop off/collection point nearby. If you do enter the site during other times, please be aware of the 5mph speed restriction, only park in designated bays and obey instructions of staff members that are marshalling.

Travelling on Foot

The pedestrian access to school is via West Street which is adjacent to the A153. This can be a busy area so make sure you cross the road safely and stay visible to traffic.

Travelling by Bicycle

We actively encourage students to arrive to school by bicycle as this is a healthy and environmentally friendly way to travel. Please abide by The Highway Code and be careful when arriving/leaving the busy school site, keeping an eye out for pedestrians and traffic. Bicycle racks are located in the school for storage.
