Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle

Year 10 Girls Rounders Tournament

The Coastal & Wolds year 10 girls rounders tournament took place on the same evening as the year 8 tournament on the other half of QEGS school field.

There were 10 entries, split into two groups of 5. QEGS were drawn in group 2 & had a very smooth run into the semi-finals, finishing first in the group beating KEVIS, Spilsby 4 – 2, Louth Academy 7 – 3, Caistor Grammar 9 – 3 ½ and Somercotes Academy 7 – 3.

QEGS then met Barnes Wallis in the first of the semi-finals; QEGS were put into bat first & scored 4 ½ rounders. This was a really competitive game, but with superior fielding skills QEGS kept Barnes Wallis to 3 ½ rounders to take the win & their place in the final. The second semi-final saw KEVIGS, Louth easily beat Somercotes Academy.

Once again the final was closely contested with QEGS put into bat first. Some really strong batting & a few slip ups in the field saw QEGS score 5 rounders. KEVIGS were very strong at batting but an all-round team performance from QEGS restricted KEVIGS to 4 rounders & a win for QEGS.

Well done to: Poppy Pearson, Eve Campbell, Frankie Kirk, Emilly Martin, Luccia McKee, Olivia Crow, Hannah Downs, Flora Gemmell & Erin Wilkinson.
