Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle

Y10 Football Tournament

QEGS were crowned champions at Skegness in the Y10 boys football tournament on Wednesday.

The boys worked tirelessly as a team throughout, they were first to the ball, kept possession, communicated well and supported each other. The team grew in confidence after each win and delivered three very impressive performances, leading to three victories and a clean sheet throughout.

Full results as follows:

QEGS 2 - Banovallum 0

QEGS 7 - Barnes Wallis 0

QEGS 3 - Skegness Grammar 0

Captain Lucas led from the front, and along with Toby and Noah in midfield controlled the play and created opportunities. Determined that the team keep a clean sheet, Lucas cleared one attempt on goal off the line with an overhead kick.

The back four proved to be formidable opponents and were solid throughout, with the few shots on goal safely dealt with by Harry and Dan.

The pace of James, Callum and Ileri pressured opponents throughout and created attacking chances. New comer to the team Ileri scored a hat trick against Barnes Wallis and I’m sure he will be a regular in the team from now on.

Goal scorers:

Noah (1)

Angus (1)

Callum (1)

Toby (1)

Sam (3)

Ileri (5)
