U16's County Cup

Match report

The U16’s were in action in the semi-final of the County Cup. QEGS hosted the game at Woodhall Spa Football Club, a fantastic local venue with very impressive facilities.

A beautiful afternoon paved the way for a fantastic match from two very skilled teams. QEGS were up against a very strong St George’s Academy team from Sleaford, who showed their skill by going 1-0 up in the first half.

After a team talk and regrouping at halftime, QEGS came out into the second half with such determination, Emma Eastham scored a beauty and put QEGS on the score sheet after 30 seconds. Driven by positivity and team spirit, Jess Frick scored another goal shortly afterwards.

Every single one of the QEGS players should be incredibly proud of themselves. They showed their athleticism they were skilled, fast, worked hard and supported each other. The girls simply, never stopped running.

The most impressive part of this performance is that QEGS came from behind to beat a very skilled St George's team. The girls should be very proud of their resilience and determination, they came out after halftime determined, they showed a positive mind-set, stepping up and doing what was needed, when they went behind in the game, the girls came together as a team and responded positively. What role models they are!

The U16 girls have powered their way into the final of the under 16’s County Cup. Well done to all of the girls involved. You should be very proud of yourselves!

A special mention must be made for our outstanding sixth form officials for this game. Referee Dylan Andrew and linesmen, Joe Mackey and Aaron Smith. You all did a fantastic job and did QEGS proud, well done and thank you.
