Sixth Form students take on Charity Trek for St Barnabas!

On the 13th of July 2025, Niall Manning and Hope Mcllwrick will be taking on The Three Peaks challenge in Yorkshire which requires you to walk between Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside in under 12 hours. The walk will be 24 miles and will include 1585 metres of ascent. Though Niall and Hope have both been in the scouts for seven years each and have completed DofE while being fuelled by a million snacks this walk will push them to their limits. The aim is for the walk to bring awareness to the charity, St Barnabas, which is the local hospice in Lincolnshire (which has supported over 100,000 people) and to raise a donation minimum amount of £150 towards the charity.

This walk is in honour of Niall’s Nan, Jean Pearson, who was a very important member to the family and was always happy, caring and loving to everyone. She loved to go to the Pantomime and had a great sense of humour.

During October 2023 Jean Pearson unfortunately had a major stroke while on holiday in Spain where she was brough back to the UK for further care. Unfortunately, her condition got worse, and she was put under care by St Barnabas hospice who would look after her for the last two weeks of her life while family visited her.

St Barnabas was an amazing charity that helped support our family in these tough weeks and any support given to them would be extremely appreciated.
