Rugby - Sevens Tournament

The opening match saw Banovallum beating De Aston allowing us to measure up two of the opponents.
Our first match in our pool was against North Summercoates who were a physically strong side. It was neck and neck until the score was five tries each where somehow the opposition found it in themselves to dig deep and score two more beating us by 7-5 tries. A couple of handling errors on our try line cost us. It was a very physical game with some great rugby played on both sides.
The next game saw North Summercoates beating De Aston by 5 - 0.
Our second match was against Bannovallum and we had majority of the play beating them by 6 - 3 tires.
The last two games were played at the same time, we took on De Aston while Banovallum faced North Summercoates. We needed a big try win against De Aston with Banovallum pulling a victory against North Summercoates. We knew we had to score as many tries as we could to stand a chance of winning the pool. Determined to do our best, we started in overdrive and had two tries within as many minutes. The boys were confident for a high score and kept pulling apart De Aston exploiting the wings and driving through the centre. We had five tries before they even got on the score sheet. We kept pushing hoping the other result would go our way finishing our game 9 - 2 victors. Unfortunately, Banovallum couldn't do it and were defeated 4 - 2. North Summercoates had won all their games.
The result left us runners up again! There were great performances from all the squad but there have to be special mentions for Morgan Beese, Henry Vear, Ben Smith and Henry Emsell who played outstandingly in their games but it was definitely a great team effort. It was another great learning curve which will make us stronger.
See you after half term.
