Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle

Bands, Choirs and an Open Mic

It has been a busy couple of weeks for the music department. On Tuesday 5th December, 104 students performed to a capacity crowd at St Mary's Church. The KS3, senior and chamber choirs all sang and musical items were provided by the brass band, string ensemble, clarinet quartet and flute choir. In addition, 2 GCSE students (Isla and Sara) performed a vocal duet (a mash up of How Far I'll Go and The Climb) and the staff choir performed 'White Hymnal' made famous by Pentatonix. The retiring collection raised £496 which will be split between the QEGS music department and The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.
On Friday 8th December the Sixth Form Music Committee arranged their second open mic lunch. 6 acts performed ranging from vocal and cornet solos to the Y10 GCSE band providing a Christmas finale.
