Amelie Thorpe Shines at English Schools Athletics Championships
Amelie Thorpe proudly represented her school and county at the prestigious English Schools Athletics Championships, held this past weekend at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Competing in the highly demanding 400-metre hurdles, Amelie demonstrated resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
On Saturday, Amelie faced a challenging start due to a technical issue with her starting blocks. Despite the early setback, she powered through the race to record a competitive time, finishing 12th nationally, an impressive result given the circumstances.
Undeterred, Amelie returned to the track on Sunday with renewed focus. Her determination paid off as she delivered a remarkable performance, achieving a new personal best of 67.4 seconds in the 400-metre hurdles.
Amelie competes for Lincoln Wellington Athletic Club and has travelled across the country this year, consistently showcasing her talent and commitment to the sport. Her progress this season has been nothing short of inspiring.
Everyone at school is incredibly proud of Amelie’s achievements. We look forward to following her continued success on the track and wish her the very best in the upcoming athletics season.
