Asked for comment, Mrs Fieldsend (coach and transport coordinator) said:

"A fantastic turn out for the Year 7 & 8 girls football tournament organised by QEGS yesterday, with 7 schools represented. It was great to see such high quality game play from the girls and excellent to see QEGS Horncastle crowned champions and Banovallum in 3rd! Well done to all that took part. We can’t wait for the next fixture!"

Match report by Orla Bradley, Captain - Year 8

On Wednesday 10th November, the school organised a football tournament for Year 7 & 8 girls from local schools. A team from QEGS played in the tournament and competed against 7 teams from 6 other local schools.

We really enjoyed the event, it was a great experience for us all. From taking part in the competition, some of team have progressed so much, in terms of skill level and knowledge of the game, as some members of the team had never played a competitive match before.

The matches were tough, physically and mentally, especially when we had to win on penalties in the semi-final and final however we are so proud that we were able to win the competition and be crowned champions!

We can’t wait for our next match!
