Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle

National Athletics Championships 2023

We are so proud to share with you that over the weekend four of our students - Henry Vear, Chloe Fields, Yemisi Akande and Evie Brooks competed in the English Schools Athletics Championships in Birmingham. This is a fantastic achievement for us as a school as we've never had four students competing at this prestigious event at one time. To get to this level, our students dedicate a lot of their time outside of school in their respective disciplines. It is a testament to their hard work and tremendous capabilities.
All the students performed really well, however one student did exceptionally well. Yemisi Akande, for the second year running won the Inter Girls 100m final. Yemisi left the rest of the field in her wake and won by a clear 5m. It was also no surprise that she set a new PB of 11.65s. Yemisi will now compete as the School Internationals in Scotland on July 14th. We wish Yemisi all the best.
Mr Cope would also like to thank the parents of our students because without their support this wouldn't have been possible.
