Why we have a Student Council

The Student Council is a means to voice your form’s opinions about how your school community is run. We are looking for students to take a leading role in changing the school for the better.

We have key strands this year in helping the community through charity work, making QEGS eco-friendly (such as cutting down on plastic), non-uniform days, making the school work better for you.

Student Council Achievements

Last year, the Student Council made an impact on our environmental impact, contacting local companies and organising for reusable water bottles to be used in school in place of single-use or plastic bottles.

The Student Council planned, organised and ran several charity events, raising important money for important causes.

We provided important feedback on Sports Day, improving the spectacle as a result.

We raised concerns affecting our forms and ensured that this information was passed on to the relevant member of staff, who then dealt with the issues.

Why should you do it?

  • Develop your leadership skills

  • Develop your confidence

  • Add to your CV

  • Don’t be a passenger on the plane, help fly the plane

  • Make a difference

  • Try new things – step out of your comfort zone
