On Monday 2nd March the GIrls' Choir went to Theatre Royal, Lincoln to perform in two concerts at the Music for Youth Primary Proms. Both concerts had a sold out audience of primary school children from across the county, and we performed alongside a string quintet, a percussion ensemble and a big band; all secondary school groups. We sang the pop ballad 'You Raise Me Up' and a jazz medley combining 'It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing' and 'Sing Sing Sing'. Once the nerves had faded, the excitement grew and the students performed brilliantly and with passion. Learning about professional productions was interesting too and it was definitely worth the early morning start!
