Year 7 students have enjoyed a visit to the Stourton Estates in Baumber as one of their 'Frantic Fortnight' activities.
Students learnt about the history of the estate and how farming has changed over the years. The visit included a Deer Safari, a visit to the Horncastle Flood Alleviation Scheme - which had recently been put to good use and finished with a trip to climb the steps of the water tower to enjoy the breathtaking views from the top of this converted building. Mr Strawson from the Stourton Estates led three separate tours of the farm during the day and gave students an insight into the challenges faced by the local farming community and detailed the ways in which the business is being diversified in the modern era. The photos show the water tower and part of the Horncastle flood defences.
