Head of Modern Languages Faculty is Mr A Dunn.
Subjects within the modern languages faculty include:-
Languages are a popular option at both GCSE and A level, and every year, significant numbers of students go on to university to study languages at degree level.
In Years 7 to 9, all students study French and German. In Year 10, Spanish is offered as an additional language, proceeding to GCSE in two years. It is possible to take three languages at GCSE from within our option choices, and it is common for students to take two.
In the Sixth Form, all three languages are offered at A level.
In addition to the specialist teaching staff, Foreign Language Assistants are employed, withdrawing small groups for conversation and other intensive oral work, and seeing Sixth Form either individually or in small groups on a weekly basis. Their contribution to the department in terms of culture and living language is greatly appreciated by students and staff alike.
