On Monday 10th July, 35 students from Year 8, 10 & 12 took part in a Memory Walk to raise funds for Alzheimer's Society. In our quest to become a dementia friendly community, we have benefitted from several workshops delivered by Dementia Friends throughout the school year so we decided to give a little back by arranging our own Memory Walk. The sun was shining as we set out on Monday morning all dressed in blue to demonstrate our support for Alzheimer's Society. Our route was 5.5 miles and took us through Horncastle and along the Viking Way to West Ashby before returning through the fields to Horncastle. Spirits were high, and fuelled by Starburst alongside a fantastic team spirit we completed the walk in 2 hours 30 minutes. So far, we have raised nearly £400 through our Memory Walk which when combined with our previous total from the Year 8 Dementia Awareness Day means that we have raised over £1000 for Alzheimer's Society this year! Thank you to everyone who helped to arrange, walked or sponsored a walker; you've helped to fund more support for individuals, families and carers of people living with dementia.
