Following on from their successes at the prestigious National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) Winter Championships at Bury Farm, Buckinghamshire last year, the QEGS Horncastle Equestrian team have now qualified for the National Championships.

On the 26th June, several pupils travelled to Arena UK in Grantham to take part in dressage and show jumping classes at the Regional qualifying competition.  In the show jumping classes, Year 8 pupil Ava Vernon completed the double, winning both the 90cm class on Mister Pebbles and 1.10cm with Rockin’ Roxie and qualifying for the Championships at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire in October.  Morgan Bennett and Grange Gadget were also placed in the 90cm class.

Joining Ava at the event will be the dressage team, consisting of year 8 pupil Abigail Lawson riding Springleaze Hope & Glory, and year 10 pupils Rosie Finney (Llechryd Lorra) and Morgan Bennett (Salik).  Unfortunately the pony of fellow team member, Holly Newton (year 9) went lame before the event but she will be joining her team members at the finals.  The event at Grantham was the first time that the school has entered a dressage team at an event.

The QEGS Equestrian Team was only formed in 2014 and have been very successful during this time.
