The Geography Department aims to inspire in QEGS students a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We teach all students from Year 7 to Year 9 and Geography is a very popular choice at both GCSE and A Level.
At KS3 we base our teaching on the national curriculum for geography. We want our students to develop their knowledge of the location of globally significant places, understand the processes that give rise to key physical and human features of both the UK and wider world, and be competent in a range of geographical skills. At KS4, students may opt to study for the AQA GCSE Geography with its stimulating blend of traditional and contemporary content.
At KS5, students currently work towards the AQA A-Level Geography qualification. This specification aims to challenge students' perceptions and their investigative and analytical skills. It has a developmental structure which helps to facilitate progression through the course and beyond to link with the demands of higher level study.
